The sixth convention of the Nepal Chamber of Commerce, Hong Kong, held on Friday elected a new 19-member working committee led by Shashi Madan Rai as the President.
The convention, held under the chairmanship of Lab Kumar Gurung, elected Shashi Madan Rai as the President, Baradan Gurung as the General Secretary, Jaya Prakash Gurung as the Secretary, Laxman Thapa as the Treasurer, and Bikki Thapa and Bishwanath Ghising as the members unopposed.
Elections were held for the posts of First Vice President and Vice President. Dhiraj Kumar Rai, Binay Shah, Tulsi Upreti, and Pradeep Kandangwa were the candidates for the posts. Dhiraj Kumar Rai was elected as the First Vice President and Pradeep Kandangwa as the Vice President.
The elected office-bearers and members from the convention were administered the oath of office and secrecy by the head of the electoral board, Dasuram Parajuli.
Satish Kumar Gurung, Nepali Consul General, had been invited as the chief guest of the program. Held at the Blue Ocean Restaurant in Jordan, Hong Kong, last Friday, the event was graced by special guests, Aruna Gurung, Yau Tsim Mong District Councilor and Tourism Promoter for Hong Kong appointed by the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Aviation, Nepal, Prakash Pun, Representative of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industries, Radhika Gurung, Women Secretary of the Central Committee of the Non-Resident Nepali Association, and Gokarna Dhakal, President of the NRNA, Hong Kong.
Similarly, other special guests included Rita Gurung, President of the Federation of Hong Kong Nepali Association, Inder Pun, President of the Nepali Youth Entrepreneurs Federation, Dasuram Parajuli, Chief Advisor of the Nepal Chamber of Commerce, Hong Kong, among other prominent figures of the Hong Kong Nepali society.
The organization has a provision to form a 19-member working committee.
The Nepal Chamber of Commerce Hong Kong was established in 2008 under the leadership of Tej Kumar Rai. It is the only Nepali organization recognized by the Hong Kong government.
