The District Court, Rupandehi has released former Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane on Rs 10 million bail.
A bench of District Judge Prahlad Kumar Yogi ordered the release of Lamichhane on a bail amounting to Rs 10 million stating that he cannot be declared innocent based on the available evidence.
Earlier, the District Court, Kaski and the District Court, Kathmandu had released Lamichhane on a bail of Rs 6.5 million and 6 million, respectively, allowing the latter to fight the case staying outside the detention.
With this, the total amount of bail sought by the courts including Kaski, Kathmandu and Rupandehi has now reached Rs 22.5 million.
Two more cases have been filed against Lamichhane for his alleged involvement in the embezzlement of funds from cooperatives based in Chitwan and Parsa.
Rabi Lamichhane, the president of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and a former Home Minister in Nepal, is facing allegations of misusing funds from cooperatives for his media company, Gorkha Media Network.
