Two workers working on suspension bridge in Surkhet go missing in Bheri River

Two workers working on a suspension bridge in Surkhet went missing in the Bheri River in Surkhet on Wednesday.

The two workers fell into the Bheri River while fixing the main load-bearing cable of the under-construction suspension bridge over the river on Wednesday morning, the police said.

According to the District Police Office, Surkhet, Anil Gharti, 24, and Arjun Jhankri, 18, of Sisne Rural Municipality-2 went missing in the river after they suddenly fell into it.

They were working on the suspension bridge over the Bheri River connecting Kuta in Barahatal Rural Municipality-4 and Chamri in Panchapuri Municipality-10.

According to Assistant Sub Inspector Dilip Basnet of Police Post, Baddichaur, Anil and Arjun fell into the River while fixing the main load-bearing cable of the suspension bridge at around 11:45 am.

A team of divers of Armed Police Force with the help of locals is currently searching for the missing people, Basnet told Nepalkhabar.
