Former King Gyanendra Shah has arrived in Kathmandu after a month-long stay in Pokhara, Kaski.
Shah landed at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) on Sunday afternoon via a chartered plane.
Shah, who arrived via a Summit Air aircraft with the call sign 9N-AKZ, was welcomed by supporters right from the airport. Top leaders from parties including RPP and RPP Nepal were present at the airport to welcome him.

A large number of supporters gathered on the roads around the airport area to welcome the former king. The administration has stated that Kathmandu's security arrangements have been tightened to prevent any untoward incidents during the former king's welcome rally.
Top leaders of political parties have been taking strong exception to the statement he made on February 19 on the occasion of Democracy Day. They have challenged him to contest elections if he intends to come to power.
