Holi, the festival of colors, is being celebrated with much fanfare in the hilly parts of the country including the Kathmandu Valley today.
Holi revelers including Nepali people and foreigners have observed the festival at Basantapur in the federal capital. The festival, which falls on Falgun Shukla Purnima is celebrated by smearing assorted colors on each other and exchanging greetings and best wishes.
It is believed that the Holi festival, which symbolizes a new hope and beginning, will help foster friendship, brotherhood and mutual cooperation among the people by overcoming discord.
