Nepal has been unanimously elected as an executive member of the World Health Organization (WHO). During 78th World Health Assembly underway in Geneva, Nepal was unanimously chosen as a member from the South-East Asia region.
Nepal will now take charge of the executive committee member of the organization for the next three years. Following the election, Health and Population Minister Pradip Paudel said that this is a significant opportunity for Nepal to expand its best health practices in improving healthcare services and to adopt global best practices.
Minister Paudel also extended congratulations to all Nepali people for this achievement.
Minister Paudel shared that Nepal is preparing to propose a resolution in the coming year to hold employers accountable for the health of Nepali migrant workers.
Expressing confidence, Minister Paudel said, "This will make an important contribution to safeguarding the health of Nepali workers and laborers worldwide. We believe this responsibility will help garner global support on issues related to the health coverage of Nepali workers," he said.
