The 18th Republic Day has been observed amidst a ceremonyheld at Army Pavilion in Tundikhel.
The program was attended by high-ranking dignitaries including President Ramchandra Paudel, Vice President Ramsahaya Prasad Yadav, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, House of Representatives Speaker Devraj Ghimire, National Assembly Chairman Narayan Prasad Dahal, Chief Justice Prakash Man Singh Raut, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Urban Development Prakash Man Singh, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel.

Nepal has been observing the Republic Day since the Second People's Movement (2062/63) that overthrew the monarchy.
The historic Constituent Assembly elections were held on 10 April 20008 in accordance with the agreement between the then seven-party alliance and CPN (Maoist Center).

The first meeting of the Constituent Assembly had declared the end of the 240-year-long monarchy on May 28, 2008.
Cultural dances and traditional tableau were performed at Tundikhel. A troop of the Nepali Army offered a guard of honor to President Ramchandra Paudel. President Paudel and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli addressed the ceremony.
