Dr Sujan Kadariya has been proposed as the chairperson of All Nepal National Free Student Union (ANNFSU), the student wing of ruling CPN (UML).
In the ongoing closed session, the presidium proposed Kadariya as the chairperson, Prakash Paudel and Anjana Siwakoti as vice chairs while Deepak Dhami has been proposed as the General Secretary, a member privy to the session told Nepalkhabar.
No sooner had the presidium proposed their names, than the disgruntled groups shouted slogans in the hall calling for elections. On the other hand, the presidium is saying that efforts are underway to forge agreement on the leadership selection.
Earlier, UML Chairman KP Oli had called the presidium and top leaders of the ANNFSU to Baluwatar and directed them to finalize the leadership through consensus.
Following the protest in the hall, the election committee has made public the election schedule.
Chief Election Officer Sewanta Raj Niraula told Nepalkhabar, "The election schedule has been made public. The final list of the candidates will be published by today evening and the voting will begin on Wednesday."
