The Nepali Embassy in Kuwait has urged Nepali migrant workers in the Gulf country to refrain from consuming methanol-laced toxic alcohol.

Issuing a press note on Friday evening, the Embassy expressed sorrow over the death of Nepali migrant workers who died of toxic alcohol consumption.

"The Embassy earnestly urges the Nepali migrant workers in Kuwait to refrain from selling, producing and consuming toxic alcohol, which is harmful to human health," reads the statement.

The embassy has informed that 35 Nepali citizens are undergoing treatment in various local hospitals following the incident.

"The embassy has received information that some have died, while others are undergoing treatment at various hospitals," the Embassy stated in a statement.

Upon learning about the incident, the ambassador and embassy staffers immediately visited the hospitals where Nepalis are undergoing treatment to take stock of their health condition, according to the statement.

Meanwhile, the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ), Foreign Branch, Kuwait has issued a statement confirming that the deaths were caused by the consumption of alcohol laced with excessive methanol.
