Inspector General of Police (IGP) Deepak Thapa and Additional Inspector Generals Sudip Giri and Tek Bahadur Tamang, who are going on compulsory leave from today, have been bidden adieu.
They were bidden adieu by Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, Home Secretary Gokarna Mani Duwadee and new IGP Chandra Kuber Khapung amidst a program this afternoon, said DIG Binod Ghimire, the central spokesperson of the Nepal Police.
After the program, arrangements have been made to escort and drop all the three at their residences.
The government had decided to appoint Khapung as IGP last week. Currently, the head of Central Investigation Bureau, Khapung will take over as IGP starting Thursday.
Thapa, who is going on leave, had been leading the Nepal Police after he was appointed as 31st IGP of Nepal Police on March 18. Thapa is existing after about five and a half months of leadership.
Both AIGs and outgoing IGP Thapa are going on leave on the ground of the 30-year service limit.
All the three had been appointed as Police Inspectors on September 4, 1995.
Sudip Giri was the head of the National Police Training Academy while Tamang was the head of the Kathmandu Valley Police Office, Ranipokhari.
With their leave, these offices including CIB will be headless from Thursday. Similarly, four AIG posts will also remain vacant.
