Medha Secondary School based at Tekhapukhu in Bhaktapur has honored its Secondary Education Examination (SEE) graduates with cash prizes and medals amidst a ceremony.
In the felicitation program organized at Ajima Party Hall in Suryabinayak, Bhaktapur on Saturday, Medha School awarded the SEE graduates scoring GPA 4 Rs 50,000 each, along with medals, garlands, tika and a group photo.
Similarly, those securing 3.61 to 3.99 (A+) were awarded a cash prize of Rs 10,000 each along with medals, garlands, tika, and a group photo. Likewise, the SEE graduates who secured below A + were honored with medals, garlands, tika and a group photo.
Out of 93 students who appeared in the SEE held in the academic year 2081 BS, four students –Anuska Pakka, Priyanka Bogati, Utkarsha Singh and Kusata Shrestha -- scored GPA 4, 62 scored A+, 26 were placed between 3.21 to 3.60 (A) while one student scored 3.20 (B+).
Similarly, Medha School also honored Memory Khadka, who scored GPA 4 in the Basic Level Examination (BLE) 2081 BS, with a cash prize of Rs 12,000.
Speaking on this occasion, Shyam Hada, Principal of Medha Secondary School, said Medha School has been achieving excellent SEE results for a decade thanks to the enduring vision of late Principal Gangadhar Hada, the dedication of teachers, the diligence of students, and the cooperation of aware parents.
“Medha Secondary School has been able to achieve excellent results this academic year, too, thanks to the combined efforts of students, teachers and parents and the enduring vision of late Gangadhar sir,” said Hada, “I would like to congratulate all the SEE graduates for their excellent results and expect the same hard work, determination and cooperation from all sides including teachers and parents to help maintain the legacy of the school in the future, too.”

Congratulating the SEE graduates for their achievement, chairman of Nepal Workers and Peasants Party (NWPP), Narayan Man Bijukchhe, stressed the need to instill a patriotic feeling in students apart from teaching regular text books. "There is a growing trend of students going abroad for higher study, resulting in a significant "brain-drain" as many choose not to return to their home countries. This is a serious issue our country is currently facing. Ultimately, this trend will inevitably impede the nation's development and undermine its future prosperity. Therefore, teachers must instill in students a deep sense of patriotism, love for their homeland, and appreciation for their national culture."
Bijukchhe further said that although pursuing higher education abroad is advantageous, it is crucial to instill in students a sense of duty to return to their country of origin and utilize their acquired skills for its development and prosperity.
Similarly, Raj Krishna Gora, the chairman of Medha Secondary School Management Committee, urged the SEE graduates to use their knowledge, skills and wisdom for the prosperity and development of their country of origin.
"Wherever you go, or whatever field you build your career in, always do your level best to uphold the reputation of Medha Secondary School," said Gora.
Advising the students not to forget their motherland, culture and, their roots, he thanked Medha teachers for helping students achieve success in the SEE results, urging them to maintain the legacy of Medha School in the days ahead, too.
Bhaktapur District Education Development and Coordination Unit Chief Kamala Gyawali and Bhaktpur Municipality Education Branch Head Shadhuram Phuyal, among others, had expressed their views during the SEE graduates felicitation event. Expressing her views, Ms Gyawali said that the school should provide holistic education to students moving beyond the theoretical knowledge contained in regular text-books to prepare them for all facets of life.
Background/track-record of Medha School
Established in 2004 BS, this school had first participated in the SCL in 2034 BS. The school took a new lease of life after late Gangadhar Hada joined this school as Vice Principal in 2064 BS. He changed its name as Medha Secondary School in 2071 BS. Due to the dedication and enduring vision of Gangadhar, Medha School topped the SLC results chart in 2075 BS, leaving many private schools behind.
This is not the first time Medha has proven its academic prowess in the SEE. In the academic year 2080 BS, too, it achieved excellent results. In that academic year, out of 115 students who appeared in the SEE, one student scored GPA 4, 77 obtained GPA 3.61 to 3.99 (A+) and 33 students scored GPA 3.21 to 3.60 (A). Similarly, three students secured 2.81 to 3.20 (B+) and one student obtained GPA 2.41 to 2.80 (B).
Likewise, in the SEE 2079 BS, out of 90 students, three students secured GPA 4, 60 students obtained GPA 3.65 to 3.95 (A+), 24 students received GPA 3.25 to 3.6 (A), and three students got GPA 3.15 to 3.2 (B+).
In the SEE 2078 BS, out of 107 students, 20 examinees got through the Iron Gate with A+, 52 A, 20 B+, 10 B and 5 with C score from this school.
In the academic years 2077 BS and 2076 BS, the National Examination Board (NEB) had announced the SEE results based on internal evaluations of respective schools due to COVID-19.

The event was further enlivened by an informal program showcasing a wide array of student talents, from cultural dances and songs to wushu and poetry recitation.
