Nepal has invited Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar to visit Nepal. According to the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal extended an invitation to his Indian counterpart to visit Nepal during his visit to Mauritius on March 24, 2026.
Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal confirmed the invitation at a press briefing of the Indian Ministry of External Affairs on Tuesday. He informed that the date of the visit will be decided through diplomatic channels between the two countries at their convenience. He said that bilateral interests, economic cooperation and connectivity were discussed during the talks in Mauritius.
Khanal and Jaishankar from both countries held sideline talks when they went to Mauritius to participate in the 9th Indian Ocean Conference (IOC).

Stating that Nepal-India relations are multidimensional, Jaiswal mentioned that India wants to make them even warmer and result-oriented.
"Nepal relations are multidimensional. Elections were held in Nepal, a new government was formed. Our Prime Minister spoke to the Prime Minister of Nepal," Jaiswal said in response to a question from a journalist at a press briefing on Tuesday. "Our Prime Minister said that Nepal-India relations are age-old, familial and vibrant, and we are committed to making them even stronger."
Last week, Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri was scheduled to visit Nepal. The visit was canceled at the last minute. The spokesperson divulged this when Indian journalists asked about it with curiosity.
