I took this step after all attempts failed: writes Acharya before attempting to self-immolate

Prem Prasad Acharya, who attempted to self-immolate in New Baneshwor on Tuesday, is revealed to have been a businessman.

Acharya, 36, who originally hails from Suryodaya municipality-11, Ilam, is a trader of local products such as akabare chili, gundruk (fermented leafy green vegetable), bamboo shoots pickle and ghee.

Eighty percent of his body was charred when he set a fire to himself after dousing in petrol. Security personnel extinguished his body fire and rushed him to Kirtipur Burn Hospital. Doctors attending to his treatment have said his condition is critical due to massive burns (third-degree burns).

Before taking a decision to commit suicide, he posted on his Facebook an autobiography of around 6,535 words in which he vividly portrays bitter experiences, frustrations, failures and the reasons why he wanted to end his life, eventually.

Having introduced himself as an entrepreneur, he explained that he had to take this step after many attempts in his life failed.
