Urges to rename Koshi Province based on identity

People’s organizations close to ruling CPN (Maoist Center) have submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ urging the latter to rename Koshi Province based on identity.

Leaders of the tribal organizations -- Kirati Rastriya Mukti Morcha, Limbuwan Rastriya Mukti Morcha among others, reached Baluwatar and submitted a memorandum to PM Dahal.

While submitting a memorandum, the leaders asked the Prime Minister to address the demands raised by the agitating groups and pay due compensation to the family of victims.

In the memorandum, they have urged Prime Minister to take the ownership of the demonstration and play a constructive role to resolve the issue, said a senior vice chairman of Limbuwan Rastriya Mukti Morcha Prem Miwak.

Earlier, all the province lawmakers had voted in favor of Koshi Province.

Admitting a mistake on Wednesday, Prime Minister Prachanda said that his party will stand in support of identity when it comes to naming provinces.
