RS 1 trln 57 bln 730 mln allocated for social security

No increment in senior citizen allowance

One trillion 57 billion 730 million has been allocated for social security programs including senior citizen allowance.

Finance Minister Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat has allocated 23 billion rupees more funds under this heading than the previous year while announcing the budget for the next fiscal year 2023/24.

The monthly allowance of 4,000 rupees, which is being provided to senior citizens who have reached the age of 68 years from the current financial year, has been continued.

Funds have been allocated for social security allowances given to Dalits, single women, poor, marginalized groups and communities and children who have completed 60 years of age.

It has continued the social security programs provided in the fields of scholarships, healthcare, health insurance etc.

In the current year, 1 trillion 34 billion 10 million rupees were allocated for social security and medical treatment and financial assistance.

As the amount was insufficient, the government had to find additional resources to provide pension to the retired employees.

Finance Minister Mahat said that the government has prepared the budget for the fiscal year 2023/24 with the slogan of the second phase of economic reform and structural change of the economy.
