Nepal and the People’s Republic of China have reached a deal on extending the main roads connecting Rasuwagadhi and Tatopani during the Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal's visit to China.

An agreement has been signed between Nepal and China to proceed with the expansion of Tokha-Chhare tunnel, Syafrubesi-Rasuwagadhi and upgradation of Araniko Highway.

Both the countries issued a joint statement and announced the agreement reached in the areas of road infrastructure and hydropower.

According to the agreement, the expansion of the fourth phase of Araniko highway between Nepal and China will be carried forward and China will start repairing of Syafrubesi Rasuwagadhi Highway. It has also been agreed to speed up the feasibility study of the Tokha-Chhare tunnel.

The agreement to start the second phase of Kathmandu ring road is also mentioned in the joint statement between the two countries. Both sides have agreed to expedite feasibility study of Kerung-Kathmandu cross border railway.

Similarly, an agreement has also been reached between the two countries that China will assist in the production of railway-related skilled manpower in Nepal.

Similarly, Nepal and China are going to cooperate in the electricity sector. The two countries have also agreed to construct the Chilime-Rasuwagadhi 220 KV transmission line.

China has shown a positive response to Nepal's demand to supply electricity from China to the northern region of Nepal.

Although the 13-point agreement that was initially made public was not mentioned in the agreement, it was included in the joint statement.
