Newly elected chairman of the National Assembly, Narayan Prasad Dahal, has assumed his duties and responsibilities on Tuesday.
Chairman Dahal went to Singha Durbar to assume his office after taking the oath of office at Sheetal Niwas.
Assuming his duties, chairman Dahal said that he will steer the Upper House in coordianation with both ruling and opposition parties.
“I will leave no stones unturned to meet the expectations and fulfill my responsibilities in coordination with both the ruling and the opposition parties,” said he, “I will turn challenges into opportunites to achieve the goal.”
National Assembly Deputy Chairperson Urmila Aryal and General Secretary of the Federal Parliament, Padma Prasad Pandey, welcomed him at the Office in Singha Durbar.
Five parties of the ruling coalition cast votes for Dahal in the National Assemby elections held this afternoon.
Thirty-nine votes were cast for the motion that Dahal should be made the chairman of the National Assembly and 17 votes were cast against the motion.
