Afghanistan booked berth in the Super Eight by defeating Papua New Guinea (PNG) with seven wickets in the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
Chasing the 96-run target set by PNG, Afghanistan reached it in 15.1 overs losing three wickets in the group stage match held in West Indies on Friday morning.
With the win, Afghanistan reached the Super Eight from Group C. Earlier, West Indies reached the Super Eight from the same group.
Earlier, invited to bat first after losing the toss, PNG was bowled out for 95 runs in 19.5 overs.
Afghanistan is atop the points table with 6 points from three matches followed by West Indies with same points from the same number of matches, representing Group C.
