A mother and her two sons were found dead in a house in Shivasatakshi Municipality-3 of Jhapa district on Friday morning.
According to DSP Krishna Kumar Chand of the District Police Office, Jhapa, the deceased are 25-year-old Anjali Besra and her two sons Bishal Besra, 8, and Ayush Besra, 2, of Shivasatakshi Municipality-3, Bhotepul.
The incident apparently took place on Friday morning and the police officials reached the incident site after locals informed them at 9 am today.
A preliminary investigation of the police shows Anjali committed suicide by hanging herself with her shawl after poisoning her two sons.
“Two sons were lying dead in the bed. Foams were visible in their mouths emitting a scent of poison,” said DSP Chand. The bodies have been sent to the District Hospital for postmortem.
Anjali’s husband is currently in Qatar for a foreign employment.
Chand said they are carrying out investigation into the case and further details will come out following the postmortem report.
