Himalayan-Kalinchowk BBR JV has been entrusted the construction of the much-awaited Gautam Buddha International Cricket Stadium.

Mayor Renu Dahal of Bharatpur Metropolitan City has informed that this company has been selected for the construction work from the competitive bidding process.

After careful evaluation of bids from various contractors, Himalayan-Kalinchowk BBR JV was chosen to undertake the construction project, Mayor Renu Dahal of Bharatpur Metropolitan City has said.

The metropolis will sign a contract with this company in the next one weak. “The metropolis has set a target to complete the construction in 26 months from the signing of the contract,” said Mayor Dahal.

The company has been awarded the construction contract for Rs 680 million 264 thousands 207 rupees.

The auction put up on February 29, 2024 had been canceled on May 13, 2024 due to a number of reasons.

The auction was put up again for the construction of the international cricket ground with a parapet to hold 15,000 spectators at Bharatpur-15.

An agreement was reached around eight months ago to construct the stadium with a funding split of 70% from the Bagmati Province government and 30% from Bharatpur Metropolitan City.

The federal government also had enlisted this as the national pride project.

The Dhurmus-Suntali Foundation, which had started building the stadium on 20 bighas and six kaththas of land in 2075 BS, withdrew the construction citing a loan of over 160 million.

The foundation halted the construction since 2078 BS citing the lack of promised funds from the donors.

A total of 579 million 205 thousand 073 rupees had been spent, said the Foundation.
