Sunil Lamsal, the father of Prakriti Lamsal, a third year B. Tech student at KIIT University, Odisha, has said that his daughter committed suicide due to harassment and blackmail.

Sunil made such comments during an interview with Asian News International (ANI) on Tuesday.

"We just know that an investigation is being done. The post-mortem report will come soon. We have the information that she was harassed and emotionally blackmailed due to which she committed suicide," said Lamsal.

Regarding the inquiry he made with officials at the KIIT University, Lamsal said, "We had a conservation with the University officials. They did not say anything, but the police and the college administration are cooperating."

Similarly, he, during the interview, further shared that his son, who is also studying at this university, informed him about this incident on Monday."

"Her phone, laptop and diary have been given to the forensic department. Police administration and the government are helping us," said he.

However, he objected to the university's decision to ask students to leave the campus. "I heard that the students are being asked to leave, this is not right. We demand justice and nothing else."

Meanwhile, a person has been arrested in connection with Prakriti's death. The Nepali community has expressed condolences to the bereaved family members and demanded justice for Prakriti. The government also said that it is working on diplomatic solutions to resolve this case.
