Senior journalist and litterateur Chalise passes away

Senior journalist and litterateur Vijaya Kumar Chalise has passed away. He was 74.

Chalise breathed his last in the course of treatment at Nepal Medical College in Jorpati on Friday morning, according to the Corporation.

He had served as the executive chairman of Gorkhapatra Corporation from June 29, 2009 to March 14, 2011. Similarly, he had served as Editor-in-Chief of Gorkhapatra Daily from September 24, 2005 to December 27, 2005. Similarly, Chalise had served as officiating Editor-in-Chief of the Corporation from June 13, 2007 to September 1, 2008.

Chalise, who is the son of senior litterateur, Ramesh Bikal, has written many stories, novels and dramas including an academic book titled 'Principles of Communication'.

Born in Jorpati, Kathmandu on July 6, 1951, Chalise had done a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism from a university in the United Kingdom.
