Gandaki Province suspends ride-sharing regulations for a month

The Gandaki Province government has temporarily suspended the ride-sharing regulations.

Issuing a press note on Tuesday, Province Secretary and Coordinator of the Dialogue Committee, Engineer Kamal Kumar Adhikari, informed that the regulations have been suspended for the time-being.

Earlier on Tuesday, the federal government wrote a letter to the Gandaki Province government through the Prime Minister's Office to suspend the ride-sharing regulations.

Following the federal government's order, Chief Minister Surendra Raj Pandey held discussions with the subordinate bodies and issued a press note. "Since a letter has been received from the Nepal government asking to normalize public life by suspending the implementation of the provisions related to ride-sharing, the Dialogue Committee formed earlier by the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure Development and Transport Management, Gandaki Province, has decided to re-invite the concerned stakeholders for dialogue and settle the issue within a one-month period," reads the press note issued by the Gandaki Province government.

The implementation of the provisions related to ride-sharing has been suspended for the time being in accordance with the Gandaki Province Ride-Sharing Regulations, 2082, the Gandaki government said.

It may be noted that an agreement had been reached between the federal government and the transport entrepreneurs on Monday night, which included withdrawing of the ride sharing regulations from the Gandaki government.
