Parties including Nepali Congress and CPN (Maoist Center) have filed written application to Lumbini Province Chief Amik Sherchan to appoint Dila Ram Chaudhary as the new chief minister.

This comes after, CPN (Maoist Center) quit the ruling coalition in the Province government.

Ministers representing the party submitted their resignation en-mass to Chief Minister Leela Giri today.

Leader of Maoist Center parliamentary party in the province and Minister for Economic Affairs Jokh Bahadur Mahara said they have pulled out following new political equation at the federal level.

Maoist Center has also withdrawn its support to the Lumbini province government led by CPN (UML).

This had left Chief Minister Giri in minority and is expected to quit the government.
