Manang Air chopper crashes, killing all six on board

The helicopter of Manang Air with the 9NA MV call sign has crashed at Dudhkunda Rural Municipality-2, Lamajura, in Solukhumbu, killing all six people including the pilot on board on Tuesday morning.

Koshi Province Police Chief DIG Rajesh Nath Banstola said that the helicopter crashed into a tree at Lamajura hill on the border of Likhu Pike Rural Municipality-5 and Dudhkunda Municipality-2 in Solukhumbu.

According to Bastola, a rescue team under the command of Assistant Sub Inspector Nirajan Basnet of Beni Police Station has been deployed at the incident site.

ASI Basnet said that the helicopter crashed into a tree at Lamajura hill and fell towards Likhu Pike Rural Municipality-5.

Now the Basnet-led team has retrieved five bodies from the accident site. But none of their bodies have been identified. One body has not yet been found.

The helicopter took off from Surke helipad in Solukhumbu for Kathmandu at 10:05 am and went out of contact after 8 minutes.
