Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balendra Shah has taken strong exception to northern neighbor China over its recently issued map that lacks the revised pointed map of Nepal.
The Ministry of Natural Resources of the People’s Republic of China on August 21 issued an official map in its 2023 edition that includes the old map of Nepal.
On May 20, 2020, the Nepal government had issued a new map of Nepal including Lipulek, Limpiyadhura and Kalapani.
Balen has been disappointed after the Ministry of Natural Sources of China issued the country’s map that excludes the revised pointed map of Nepal.
“China has played with the sentiments of Nepali people by excluding the revised pointed map of Nepal in its recently published map,” said Balen, “It should, at least, have consulted the Nepal government before issuing the new map. Hence, I have decided to cancel the five-day official China visit on the ground of morality.”
