The Dhanusha District Court has remanded chairman of Kantipur Media Group, Kailash Sirohiya, to three more days in police custody for investigation.
The Dhanusha District Court permitted the District Police Office to investigate media entrepreneur Sirohiya for three days in the dual citizenship case, said Dambar Prasad Ghimire, the spokesperson of the Dhanusha District Court.
Even though the Office of the District Attorney asked for five days, the Court extended only three days’ remand for investigation, according to Ghimire.
Sirohiya was arrested from Thapathali-based office of the Kantipur Publications on Tuesday and was whisked off to Dhanusha for the investigation in the dual citizenship case.
However, Sirohiya has denied all the allegations dubbing the arrest as an “act of vengeance” for a series of reports published by Kantipur on the embezzlement of cooperative funds. The government has courted criticisms from various quarters including media fraternity after it arrested Sirohiya.
