Medha Secondary School, a community school based at Tekhapukhu in Bhaktapur, has once again demonstrated academic excellence by achieving a 100% pass rate in the Secondary Education Examination (SEE) 2081 BS.

According to the SEE results published by the National Examination Board (NEB) on Friday, out of 93 students who appeared in the SEE exams held in 2081 BS, 3 students scored GPA 4, while 63 obtained GPA 3.61 to 3.99 (A+), 26 students scored GPA 3.21 to 3.60 (A) and one student achieved GPA 2.81 to 3.20 (B+) .

The NEB announced that 61.81 percent of SEE candidates nationwide cleared the "Iron Gate". Among 438,896 examinees (toward regular category), 48,177 scored GPA 3.6–4, while 167,597 received non-graded results. Similarly, 81,385 were graded with 3.2 to 3.6 GPA and 89,124 obtained 2.8 to 3.2 GPA.

The number of students achieving from GPA 2.4 to 2.8 GPA is 48,479 while those achieving 2 to 2.4 GPA are numbered 4,126. Eight students have secured 1.6 to 2 GPA while the exams of 126 students were canceled, according to Board Chairman, Dr Mahashram Sharma.

Attributing the exceptional performance to teamwork, Principal Shyam Hada highlighted the combined contributions of students, teachers, and parents. “Medha Secondary School has been able to achieve excellent results this academic year, too, due to the combined efforts done by three parties – students, teachers and parents,” said Hada, “I would like to congratulate all the SEE graduates for their excellent results and expect the same hard work, determination and cooperation from all sides including teachers and parents to help maintain the legacy of the school in the future, too.”

This is not the first time Medha has proven its academic prowess in the SEE. In the academic year 2080 BS, out of 115 students who appeared in the SEE, one student scored GPA 4, while 77 obtained GPA 3.61 to 3.99 (A+), while 33 students scored GPA 3.21 to 3.60 (A). Similarly, three students secured 2.81 to 3.20 (B+) while one student obtained GPA 2.41 to 2.80 (B).

Similarly, in the SEE 2079, too, Medha School had achieved excellent results, leaving many private schools behind. Out of 90 students, three students secured GPA 4, while 60 students obtained GPA 3.65 to 3.95 (A+), 24 students received GPA 3.25 to 3.6 (A), and three students got GPA 3.15 to 3.2 (B+).

In the SEE 2078 BS, out of 107 students, 20 examinees got through the Iron Gate with A+, 52 A, 20 B+, 10 B and 5 with C score from this school.

In the academic years 2077 BS and 2076 BS, the NEB had announced the SEE results based on internal evaluations of respective schools due to COVID-19.

Medha School is the leading example that has disseminated a positive message throughout the country that community schools also can impart a high level of quality education.

This community school took a new lease of life after the late Principal Gangadhar Hada took charge as the vice principal on February 17, 2004. Due to his constant dedication to the school, this school managed to top the charts of community schools in the SEE results in 2075 BS, eight years after he took charge as the head of the school.

Recognizing his commendable contribution to the school, the government conferred Prabal Janasewa Shree Award, Shiksha Puraskar on Gangadhar as being the principal of Medha School. He had played an instrumental role in transforming an ordinary community school into the best school of the nation leaving behind all the private schools. This School had received a cash prize of Rs 300,000 along with a medal and a letter of appreciation for becoming the top government school in 2075 BS.
