The post-mortem of those who died in a bus accident involving Indian tourists in Marsyangdi River in Ainapahara, Anbukhaireni Rural Municipality-2 of Tanahun along Prithvi Highway on Friday, will be conducted in Chitwan.
Twenty-seven people were killed when a bus with Indian number plate UP 53 FT 7623, which was heading to Kathmandu from Pokhara, fell into the Marsyangdi River. Out of them, 26 people died in Anbukhaireni and one person died in Old Medical College, Chitwan in the course of treatment, according to District Police Office Tanahun.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Deepak Rai informed that the bodies of 26 people who died in Anbukhaireni Hospital were sent to Chitwan on Friday night.
Sixteen people were injured in the accident. They were airlifted to Kathmandu on Friday itself. DSP Rai said that they are undergoing treatment at TU Teaching Hospital. All the deceased and injured are from Jalgaon district of Maharashtra State, India, the police said.
Earlier, Kaski Chief District Officer Janardan Gautam on Friday said the bodies would be taken to Pokhara for postmortem.
