Following the death of Prakriti Lamsal, a student from Butwal studying at the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) in Odisha, India, Nepalis studying there have been thrashed and expelled. Nepali students are currently waiting for a train at the Kolkata railway station to return home.

In a public video, a student who was beaten up said that the students who were expelled from the hostel have been stranded.

He said, "We were expelled from the hostel and are stranded on the road. We are at the Kolkata station, currently. We have no money, no food to eat. We do not have train tickets to return home. There are about 300 Nepalis. We do not know what to do or how to go about it."

According to him, there are 300 Nepali students at the Kolkata railway station. Regarding the beatings by the hostel wardens, he added, "We were kicked out. Finally, we are reaching Kolkata. We were thrashed like animals. Seniors, juniors, children were all beaten up."

In a public video, another student expressed his pain by saying that he would not return to the campus. "I will not go to college anymore. Who knows what they will do if they call me again tomorrow," he said.

Another student added, "While we were saying that we would coordinate with the police and cooperate in the investigation of the incident, our brothers and sisters were beaten up in an inhuman manner. They were forced to take a bus and drive away."

He further said that most of the students who were expelled since Monday are traveling hungry.
