The Odisha state government of India has expressed commitment to establish a 'counseling center' in the name of Prakriti Lamsal.
Prakriti, a third year B. Tech student from Butwal, Nepal studying at the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) was found dead in her hostel room on Sunday morning.
Health Minister at the Odisha government, Mukesh Mahaling, expressed this commitment during a meeting with SSP Sanjeev Sharma Das, the counselor at the Nepali Embassy in New Delhi on Wednesday.
Alongside Health Minister Mahaling, Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj and Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja were present during the meeting.
In the meeting held at the State Guest House in Odisha, the representatives from the Nepali Embassy drew the Health Minister and the Chief Secretary's attention toward the distress inflicted on the Nepali students by the college.
The Odisha government has urged students who left the college following the incident to return.
The college administration has already apologized for its misbehavior and asked the students to return to join academia. The college administration on Tuesday expressed grief over the incident by holding a condolence meeting.
